Sleep deprivation is one of the most ubiquitous and damaging health conditions of our modern world. Many of us are so acclimated to a life without quality sleep that we might not even realize what we are missing anymore. Ayurveda sees sleep as one of the three pillars of good health and has much to offer around how to help you improve yours. We'll be taking a look at the biology of sleep, as well as how to improve your sleeping life and therefore your waking one! Topics include:
- What is sleep and why do we have to do it?
- The hormonal cascade occurring in your body that helps you fall asleep and stay asleep all night
- Ayurvedic remedies to escape the insomnia cycle and start moving you towards a restful night's sleep
Leah Kaplan is a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist and 500 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher, having completed her training at the California College of Ayurveda and YogaWorks, respectively. She currently runs her own private practice, Thunderbolt Ayurveda, in Petaluma, CA and works with clients worldwide over the internet.
